Young Memory Impaired North West

Welcome to Young Memory Impaired North West; a meet-up group designed to connect individuals, particularly those aged 20s, 30s, and 40s onwards, living with memory impairment - Including when dealing with an invisible disability (or hidden/non-visible disability) A neurological condition that limits a person’s daily activities but is not immediately obvious to others. Because these conditions are not seen, people with invisible disabilities often face stigma, misunderstanding, and difficulty accessing necessary support.

We aim to create a supportive community for those who feel isolated or underrepresented due to conditions like ABI, MCI, or FND, and who wish to enhance their social life, build new connections, and offer mutual support.

Our story

Young Memory Impaired North West was born from the recognition that individuals with memory impairment, especially younger adults, often struggle to find social environments where they feel understood and included. We noticed a significant gap in services, with most support groups catering predominantly to the elderly. Our mission is to bridge this gap, providing a vibrant and inclusive space for social interaction and connection, free from judgment and alienation.

Our beginnings

This voluntary service is a new initiative, currently in its early stages. We are building our community from the ground up, starting with casual food and drink meet-ups in and around city's and towns in the North West of England. Our initial plans include regular gatherings in locations such as; Manchester, Leeds, Liverpool, Lancaster, Kendal, ect.... to reach as many people as possible. Your patience and participation as we grow are greatly appreciated.

Please help build a better picture of the needs of people with young memory impairment by completing our survey. Thankyou.
